About me
Amira Mustapha is an artist, performer, and leader in the world of literature and performance art. As the founder and Executive Director of Art Defined Productions, a Bronx-based non-profit organization, she has dedicated her life to creating a platform for artists to explore, create, develop, and showcase their work. In addition to her work with Art Defined, Amira is a talented writer and actor, co-creating, writing, producing, and performing in the hit web series "#30 The Series."
As a playwright, Amira's work has received recognition and accolades, with her play "Adulting" being selected as one of the top 3 plays in both the Nuyorican Play Festival and the Downtown Urban Arts Festival. With a background in theater, including a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from Lehman College and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership, Amira has spent over a decade honing her skills as a performer, writer, stage manager, and theater technician. She has worked on off-Broadway productions, at notable spaces such as The French Institute and Merkin Concert Hall, and has even won the Community Arts Grant and Arts Fund from the Bronx Council on the Arts.
As the Director of Production Services at Lehman College, Amira is now passing on her knowledge and experience to a new generation of artists. Her work has earned her recognition from organizations such as Poets and Writers, the Bharati Foundation Leadership Award, and an Emmy Award from Bronxnet.
Through Art Defined, Amira is working to bring artists and communities together, inspire an artistic movement, and provide support and resources to those who need it. Her mission is to spread magic and connect with similar spirits, and she continues to work tirelessly to make her dream a reality.
